About Juvéderm

Age affects every person differently and at different times. While you may not be able to control your genetics or past skin damage, you can use a nonsurgical injectable treatment to restore your skin for a more youthful appearance. The Juvéderm family of injectable fillers from the innovative Allergan® company is specifically designed to treat some of the most common signs of aging: volume loss, lines, wrinkles, and skin folds. The Juvéderm family of injections are all approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and use hyaluronic acid (HA) to improve the health and elasticity of the skin. Double board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Suzanne Trott performs Juvéderm injections at her Beverly Hills, CA practice to give her patients beautiful, but natural-looking results that last for up to 2 years. There are 5 different formulas of Juvéderm injections available at Suzanne A. Trott, MD, FACS:

  • Juvéderm Voluma® XC: adds volume and lift to the cheeks to restore youthful fullness to the mid-face.
  • Juvéderm Volbella® ; XC and Juvéderm Ultra XC: adds subtle fullness and volume to the lips while smoothing vertical lip lines.
  • Juvéderm Vollure™ XC and Juvéderm XC: plump moderate to severe lines and wrinkles throughout the face, including parentheses and marionette lines.

Best Candidates

The best candidates for Juvéderm should have:

  • A decent amount of skin elasticity
  • A large area of wrinkles on the skin
  • Intense lines between the eyebrows
  • Marionette lines near the chin
  • Overall good health
  • Want fuller lips or cheeks

What to Expect

The doctor will conduct an evaluation of your skin before performing a Juvéderm injection to discover which areas would benefit from treatment and how many syringes will be needed. The regions of your face to be treated will be marked with ink before the doctor deftly injects the face with Juvéderm. If needed, a numbing cream can be applied before the injections to reduce patient anxiety and discomfort. Once the medication is in the skin, the doctor will give the skin a slight massage to evenly spread the Juvéderm to all needed areas.

Other Considerations

Juvéderm injection results are usually visible right after away. It may still temporarily appear to be swollen and red, but you should be able to return to your normal activities right after your treatment. We recommend that all patients avoid strenuous activities, like exercising, for at least 24 hours. The results of Juvéderm last about 6 – 9 months in most patients, so patients should schedule touch-up appointments to keep their appearance consistent. Juvéderm may be used with plastic surgery, nonsurgical treatments, and other wrinkle injections to enhance your final results.
