This male patient wanted a tighter neck and a more defined jawline, but wasn’t ready for a deep plane neck lift. After evaluating his anatomy, Dr. Suzanne Trott recommended submental platysmal plication combined with Renuvion skin tightening, performed in her Beverly Hills office under local anesthesia. The two procedures address different parts of the neck contour.

Together, they target the muscle and overlying loose skin that can soften the distinction between the jawline and neck. The important decision was how much intervention his concerns required.

For this patient, a focused approach offered an opportunity to improve neck definition without proceeding to a more extensive deep plane neck lift. For appropriately selected patients, submental platysmal plication with Renuvion can offer a less invasive surgical option for neck contouring without general anesthesia.

It does not replace a deep plane neck lift in every case. The amount of excess skin, muscle laxity, and deeper tissue fullness determines which approach is most appropriate.
