Myers' Cocktail with Dr. Suzanne Trott, Beverly Hills

    Myers' Cocktail

A Myers' Cocktail is an intravenous micronutrient infusion: magnesium, calcium, B-complex vitamins, B12 and high-dose vitamin C delivered directly into the bloodstream in a saline base. It is named for Dr.

    Dr. Trott's point of view

Think of it as repletion, not therapy: hydration and micronutrients delivered efficiently before surgery, travel, or an event. You feel like yourself again by the afternoon.

    About Dr. Trott

    01

    What a Myers' Cocktail is

The reason it is given intravenously rather than as a supplement is absorption. The gut limits how much of a nutrient like vitamin C or magnesium can enter the bloodstream at one time, no matter the dose swallowed. Intravenous delivery bypasses that ceiling entirely, producing blood concentrations that oral dosing cannot reach.

Every infusion in this practice is ordered by Suzanne A. Trott, M.D., F.A.C.S. after a medical history, not selected from a menu.

    What is in the bag

The classic Myers' formulation, adjusted to the patient rather than run identically for everyone:

    • Magnesium, muscle relaxation, migraine and tension symptoms, sleep quality
    • Calcium, paired with magnesium in the original protocol
    • B-complex, cellular energy metabolism
    • Vitamin B12 (hydroxocobalamin), energy, neurologic support, commonly low in vegetarians and after bariatric surgery
    • Vitamin C, typically 1,000–2,500 mg, immune and antioxidant support, and a cofactor in collagen synthesis, which matters around surgery
    • Glutathione, zinc or amino acids, added when the history supports it
    • 250–500 mL of IV fluid, rehydration that oral water cannot match in the same window

What is not in it: stimulants, sedatives or anything that will affect your afternoon.

    03

    Who it is for

Patients typically come for one of five reasons:

Before and after surgery. Hydration, vitamin C for collagen synthesis and B vitamins for energy during early recovery. Many of Dr. Trott's surgical patients schedule an infusion in the week before their operation and again during the first two weeks after, alongside Aspen ultrasound therapy for swelling.

Fatigue that supplements have not touched. Especially where absorption is the issue, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, post-bariatric anatomy, or a long history of oral supplements with no change.

Travel and events. Long-haul flights and a schedule that does not forgive a lost day. Booked the morning after arrival or two days before an event.

Illness and recovery. During or after a viral illness, when appetite and oral intake have dropped.

Migraine and tension patterns. Magnesium is the reason; patients with a magnesium-responsive pattern often notice it most.

It is not appropriate for everyone. Significant kidney impairment, certain cardiac medications and a few specific conditions rule out high-dose magnesium, which is exactly why a physician takes the history first.

    What the appointment is like

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes.

Come hydrated and having eaten, arriving on an empty stomach is the single most common reason a patient feels lightheaded. A 22–24 gauge catheter, a smaller gauge chosen for comfort and for delicate veins, is placed in the arm. The infusion runs slowly while you sit in a chair with your phone, and nothing about it requires you to clear your calendar.

Most patients read, take calls or have their Botox or filler appointment at the same time, the infusion runs concurrently. You drive yourself home afterward.

The two things you may notice during the drip: a warm flush from the magnesium and a metallic or vitamin taste from the B vitamins. Both are expected and both pass within minutes.

    05

How it feels, and how often

Most patients describe feeling clearer and less depleted within a few hours, with the effect holding for anywhere from a day to about a week depending on how deficient they were to begin with. Hydration is immediate; the nutrient effect builds over the day.

Dr. Trott's usual approach is a single infusion first to see how you respond, then an interval that matches the goal, every one to two weeks through a demanding stretch or a recovery period, then monthly maintenance, or simply as needed before travel and events. Water-soluble vitamins are excreted rather than stored, so there is no cumulative buildup at those intervals. There is also no reason to hold a standing weekly appointment when you feel well, and Dr. Trott will tell you that rather than sell you a package.

It pairs naturally with the rest of the wellness side of the practice, NAD+, glutathione and peptide protocols, and with anything happening in the same visit.
