Ideal Candidates For a Chin Implant
Chin augmentation is an aesthetic option for both women and men. If you are self-conscious because of the size of your chin and do not like the weak profile it creates, this cosmetic enhancement can improve the lower section of your face and neck. It's also fairly common for our patients to get a rhinoplasty with their chin augmentation treatment. This combined approach offers great reassurance for the features of your face to balance out.
Surgical Technique For Chin augmentation
During chin enhancement surgery, general anesthesia will be administered, or another form of anesthesia, such as IV sedation in some cases. The incision is made under your chin. In this incision, a surgical pocket is created to keep the implant device in its proper place, which involves reducing some of the tissue, cartilage, and bone to make grooves to hold your implant in position. The implant is placed through the incision and positioned over the bone, below your lower lip. In some cases, the incision can be created inside the lower lip where it connects to your gumline. Both types of incisions help to conceal scars. Small sutures are used to safely close the incisions, and the bottom portion of your face will be wrapped with medical garments.
What to Expect
Chin enhancement treatment produces immediate results, which can be very delightful for our patients. Although facial swelling and discoloration will be present following your surgery, this will subside. In most cases, chin augmentation roughly takes two weeks of recovery. Strenuous activity should not be performed within this time period. This particular surgery has extremely high success rates and under the hands of a trained surgeon, like Dr. Trott, your outcome will be natural and proportionate.
