Ideal Candidates
Good candidates for nanofat or facial fat grafting include patients who are bothered by facial hollowing, under-eye shadows, sunken temples or cheeks, fine lines, or dull, aging skin. It is also an excellent option for patients who want a longer-lasting alternative to dermal fillers, or who prefer a natural approach using their own tissue. Patients with acne scarring, post-surgical irregularities, or skin damage often see significant improvement from nanofat's regenerative effect. During your consultation, Dr. Trott will evaluate your facial anatomy, skin quality, and goals to determine whether fat grafting alone — or combined with another procedure such as a facelift or blepharoplasty — will give you the most natural, refined result.
The Procedure & Recovery
Fat grafting is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or in combination with another facial procedure. Dr. Trott first gently harvests a small amount of fat — most often from the abdomen or thighs — using refined liposuction technique. The fat is then carefully purified. For volume restoration, it is layered into the targeted areas of the face using micro-cannulas to sculpt and contour. For nanofat treatment, the fat is processed into a smooth emulsion and delivered into the superficial layers of the skin to improve tone, texture, and fine lines.
Recovery is generally well tolerated. Most patients experience swelling and mild bruising in both the donor site and the face for about one to two weeks. Final results continue to improve over several months as the grafted fat establishes its blood supply and the regenerative effect of the nanofat takes hold. The result is a softer, more rested, and naturally youthful appearance — never overdone.
